Meet the World's tallest Virgin
Alicia Jay 35, a style blogger and game operations manager for the Golden State Warriors, a NBA team based in Oakland, California has been dubbed the world's tallest virgin.
She spoke about her life as a virgin in video for mode.com's 'My Life' series, explaining she has always believed in saving herself for marriage.
'Being a virgin today is a beautiful thing,' she says in the clip. 'I cannot wait for my husband to find me and for me to share all of me with him. But it's hard. People have a misconception that we're just not exciting people.'
Alicia explains that growing up she was bullied a lot because of her height, which caused her to have a negative self-image until she went to college
'Virginity is something that I felt like I just had to do from a young age. It's a part of my purpose. I really feel that way.'
And while Alicia is optimistic that she will one day find the love of her life, she admits that the dating scene can be frustrating.
During a workout session with her trainer Lisa Baugh, Alicia detailed a disastrous recent date.
'I can't even remember [his name] because I was done after the fourth tall question, and it went to 40,' she explains.
Alicia goes on to tell the cameras: 'There are definitely some challenges to being a virgin, especially when at 35 you think, "Is he ever going to find me? Am I going to be a virgin for the rest of my life?"'
Aside from her quest for love, Alicia runs Tall Swag, a style blog for tall women like herself. According to Alicia, the blog Tallswag is the result of her being frustrated with finding clothes that fit her lanky frame—and knowing that other tall women felt the same way.
'People don't think that style is that powerful, but it really is,' she explains. 'Imagine not having any clothes that fit you any shoes that fit you and then you find it one day.
'Think about how much that would boost your confidence and then its just going to spill over into every other area of your life.'
Alicia goes on to urge tall girls to realize that their 'height is powerful' and a tool that they will use when they get older.
'People are going to wish that they had it, so just tough it out,' she says from experience. 'Look in the mirror; tell yourself that you are beautiful and block out all that noise because all it is is a lie. Don't believe it.'
