UNIPORT protest turns deadly as police shot a student

A student of the University of Port Harcourt named Peter Ofurum and said to be the Faculty president of Management Sciences, was allegedly shot dead by the police during a protest by the students this morning over the increment in school fees and the “no school fees-no examination” policy of the school
The students allege that police officers brought in to maintain law and order, fired gunshots which hit the deceased, killing him.
Angry students have started destroying school properties and properties of resident lecturer in protest of his death. The school has since been shut down
