Mr. Adamu has been accused of spying on all financial incomes of the State government and passing on this information to the former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who currently serves as a senator. He was also accused of sabotaging all financial payments to the State government, a situation which caused the delay in salary payments to the State civil servants. The presidential amnesty office has commenced the payment of outstanding stipends to ex-militants who are beneficiaries of the amnesty programme. This is in line with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari, who appointed a coordinator for the programme late July. Buhari named Tarila Boroh as amnesty coordinator and special adviser on Niger Delta on July 28. On assumption of office, Boroh set up a seven-man committee to undertake a verification exercise of claims ahead of the payments. However, on Friday, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) started with the May stipend of N65,000 per beneficiary. “The outstanding stipends will be paid in batches. We have commenced payment with the outstanding May 2015 stipends. That of June and July will be paid afterwards,” Daniel Alabrah, amnesty’s head of media and communication, said. “The outstanding allowances and school/training fees of beneficiaries will be cleared at the end of the ongoing verification exercise of genuine claims. ...

Officers of the Lagos State police command have reportedly apprehended two of the kidnappers suspected to be behind the abduction of the Oniba of Iba Community. The suspects are reported to have been paraded at the State House in Ikeja, Lagos State today, July 7, 2016. The suspects have been identified as Toba Forejo and Isaiah Ododomu , from Ondo State. The monarch, Oba Goriola Oseni , was released after weeks in the hands of his abductors, yesterday, July 6, 2016, following the payment of the ransom fee. PM News reports that one of the suspects had confessed the means by which they had successfully kidnapped the monarch, extorting the sum of N15.1 million ransom before they had released him. Speaking with reporters, the suspect disclosed that nine poeple had shown up at the palace on that fateful day, to kidnap the monarch.
